The results are in! It’s the moment you’ve all been waiting for! After extensive research and experimentation, we have concluded that home is not a location but a state of mind and the photographer auden barbour has created the feeling of home at All Street’s 77 East Third Street location with her solo exhibition, upon return. Frames were built, photos were hung, libations were poured and movies were watched. However, festivities are not done and will continue through September 2, so stop in and remember: there’s always a home for you at All Street.

+darling child live recap+
Forget Travis Scott! Forget Utopia! The most anticipated album of the summer released on August 18th with a live performance by Abe The Kid at All Street’s Hester Street location. Abe went all Frank Ocean at the Chinatown Gallery, literally building a stage with his own two hands, while mastering the album and choreographing a dynamic live performance. Despite the tremendous amount of pressure he was under, he not only performed but also delivered with a concoction of mind numbing verses and body shaking rhythms providing the audience with an experience that was equally exciting and emotionally impactful. Unlike Frank, however, Abe will not be disappearing anytime soon, so keep your eyes peeled for his next performance.
Also if you haven’t heard the album yet, don’t further sabotage your life, go stream the album now!
+dirty laundry recap+
There was an indescribable scent in the air. It was a familiar aroma but not something immediately recognizable. Both somehow comforting and homey, but also chemical and sterile. The nose is perhaps the most forgotten organ in both life and art. Artists and art admirers alike spend hours on end analyzing eyes and mouths, as those provide the most mainstream sensory functions. But the interdisciplinary artist RB Wren diverged from convention with their interactive installation, Dirty Laundry, which triumphantly poses the question: what role does the nose play in art and the world? The answer lies in Galloxide, which — if you missed the weekend-long installation and performance at All Street’s East Village location — is definitely worth googling.
+tuesday talks recap+
The first rule of “Tuesday Talks,” the talking-discussion club, is: “what’s said in the oval stays within the oval.” So if you don’t want to miss out on the most important conversation happening in the Lower East Side you shouldn’t miss the next one. Considering the diversely talented crowd that may or may not have attended it’s impossible to truly convey or capture the topics covered, but I can share that what was discussed has had a tremendously profound impact on all of those in attendance. Gen-Z content creators sat amongst fine art boomers, who sat beside millennial culture critics, and the intergenerational mixing went on and on. It was a true meeting of the most creative minds in New York City. I pity those that missed it. Come to 119 Hester Street for the next one on September 12 at 7pm.

+resurrect announcement+
Art is not merely a reflection of life but a motor for existence. Through a single painting, one can live an entire lifecycle. The ideation phase is birth, the actual process is life, and in completion is death. Yet there is an opportunity for resurrection through the form of exhibition. New eyes mean new life for an artist. On September 8, Lucas Loveyjoy will rise again with Resurrect, a solo exhibition which will be at All Street 119 Hester Street location from September 8 - 15.

+seen around by ella walsh+
Several weeks ago, around 10pm, while looking frantically for a taxi (phone dead), I noticed a couple crossing the street on Washington Avenue. The woman had blond straw-like hair and a receding hairline, and the man was fairly taller and had dark skin. He leaned down to kiss her as they neared the corner, blushing, ending what looked like an early date. Two weeks later, I saw them again walking out of a movie at the Angelika theater, stretching their legs, comfortable. I was moved by this middle-aged summer romance and I hoped to see them again.

My little crow, yoghurt skin Counting her steps to every doorway We thought we could give her everything But his mind curdled Anger like sick meat Spoiling I woke up feeling my face in water & knew – before my husband did All the pearly white rocks Piled at my doorstep All the healed children All the strangers holding your face Not dissimilar from love New dirt My daughter My daughter I curl in your childhood bed

This is the part of the movie where they drive off into the sunset A montage of happy scenes and imagined states of undress But hearts break on a whim when directions change with a gust of the wind So rather than watch I close my eyes and feel the sun on my skin Jump cut, late August I’m on the lawn people watching Shades on, laid out, posted up, eavesdropping Barbie’s cheating on ken with captain America but she can’t stop it Sloppy city summers in full effect so proceed with caution Let the sweat drip, body chills and head trips Beach season is here so it’s a little late to get ripped Fireside chats, kikis , and bad advice from Reddit teens discussing the etiquette of breaking up over direct message An iPhone’s a weapon but when sun sets these screen will illuminate faces The only thing allowing me to discern between time and liminal spaces Navigating through this concrete rain forest, post haste Central Park in the summer is an abyss of happy memories and mistakes

You: smartest person in the room
Me: couldn’t think of a good question
Description:
Your analysis of benevolent sexism’s prevalence in a post consumerist art market sent my brain spiraling in the best way possible. At the next Tuesday Talks I’ll be ready with a comment to march your intellectual wit.

You: a gyrating fireball setting the dance floor ablaze
Me: an awkward spoon with two left feet
Description:
Your gaze invited me over, but what was I to do?
There’s no universe in which I could keep up with the way you move.
I remained as a statue leaned up against the wall.
Watching you, completely enthralled with every second deeper in love I’d fall.

You: wearing mismatched shoes
Me: wearing mismatched socks
Description:
Maybe we finally found our match?
+upon return opening+
You: stung and ran
Me: still reeling from your bite
Description:
You landed on my neck ever so gently. From the moment we touched I was tense. And in a flash you were gone and I was left alone and in pain.

You: proudly laughed when everyone else was too scared or uncomfortable too
Me: a lonely artist that appreciates you
Description:
My films are complicated. Just like me. It takes a unique soul to understand my art. I can tell you’re special. Perhaps, you too are haunted by the awareness of your own mortality. We’re a rare breed and must stick together. If this is a requited love, meet me at the most romantic place in the LES on the next full moon. Until then.

Life is simply a series of small performances. Rather than dim your light, embrace the act. One day your life can be a comedy and the next an opera. On the grand stage of life there is no such thing as pretending.

Today, diverge from your expected path. Every time you’re going to make a right turn, make a left turn and vice versa. Where you end up is exactly where you’re meant to be.

Go to the closest park in your neighborhood. Find a nice patch of grass and dig a tiny hole. Think of that thing you’ve been trying not to think about and let a single tear fall into that hole. In a year from now a dream will bloom.

No matter how big the cage, can life ever truly be enjoyed in captivity? Four walls can either make a home or a prison. It’s just a matter of perspective, so how you view your surroundings is entirely up to you.

Animals are all around you. There are birds in the sky, rats in the street, and reptiles in the basement. To thrive is to follow your instincts. Survival is not about thinking with your head but moving with your heart. Love is the only hierarchy in this animal kingdom.

All streets have bugs but not all bugs have streets. Some bugs live in trees, some bugs live in the sand, some bugs live in the dirt, some bugs live in the water, while other bugs live on concrete until they die beneath our feet. So tread lightly there’s whole worlds beyond what you can see. Just because something is invisible doesn’t mean it isn’t there.
