+tuesday talks announcement+
Everyone has a story. That may be corny to say but it's true. Especially in a city like New York, it’s really easy to lose sight of the individual. So one Tuesday evening a month All Street will be opening the doors of their Chinatown location for artists, creatives, and really all New Yorkers to come and listen to the stories of a few interesting people. Following a short artist talk a group discussion will be held for all those in attendance to mingle and get to know each other. This is Tuesday Talks. The first featured artist talk will be given by Judith Bigham today from 7pm - 8pm at 119 Hester St. Tuesday Talks is produced in collaboration with artist and curator Will Wilson.
+darling child announcement+
What did you want to be when you grew up? A superhero, an artist, a musician, smart, strong, happy? When we were kids, opportunity was limitless, potential was only bound by one’s imagination. As we grow up we shrink and conform our dreams to fit within society’s boundaries and constraints, but art allows us to think bigger and resist expectation. From August 12th - 18th, the musician and multidisciplinary artist Abe the Kid has let his imagination run wild at All Street’s Chinatown location. He has transformed the gallery into a physical manifestation of his album, Darling Child. The weeklong installation will be coming to a close this Friday with a live performance of the album at 9pm. Hope to see you there!

THIS IS A SPECIAL REPORT FROM THE OOIV (OFFICE OF INVISIBILITY): The writing is on the wall! We repeat! The writing is on the wall! And you mustn't ignore the signs!
On July 8th - 30th, the New York Sanitation Department’s artist-in-residence, sTo Len, lined the walls of All Street’s East Village location with an array of mixed media prints and signs. The solo exhibition, Sign Language, turned the small gallery into a portal that allowed visitors to peer into the city’s unique relationship to trash over the past 100 years. A diverse array of New Yorkers were brought together and reminded that no matter what differences we have, we all rely greatly upon the New York Sanitation Department to clean up our trash filled lives.
+queer knowing recap+
There was queer art. There was queer poetry. There was queer comedy. There was queer music. The queerness was known. Pride swelled for the month and hopefully the waves continue to ripple through those that attended. We exist 365 days a year but our moments to properly celebrate are rare, so such instances must be capitalized and acknowledged. Thank you for celebrating with us and making our community a little bit brighter. We’ll be back at it next June so stay tuned…
+fluid dynamics recap+
People flowed in and out of the room. Chance interactions lead to impromptu conversations and perhaps longer term connections. Life imitated art and vice versa. With Fluid Dynamics, Susan Zelda Steinfield created a space for meditation and self reflection within the works of her solo exhibition. One night people partied, the following they discussed, the next they laughed, and finally they danced. From August 4th - 10th, the moments experienced at All Street’s Chinatown location will hopefully persist for a lifetime.

+welcome to the park announcement+
In 1857 construction began on what would eventually become Central Park, the most visited urban park in the United States. Electricity was not even commercially available until the 1880s. If one of the greatest feats of man made nature could be engineered then, what’s possible today? Photographer and Certified Pizza Analyst, Spencer Katz, will be building a park inside All Street’s Chinatown location on August 28th to accompany his solo photography exhibition, A Walk In The Park, which explores the history and development of central park through 35mm film photography. The installation will be on view through September 6th, so stop in to take in the sights and stroll through the park.
+upon return announcement+
They say once you leave you can never go home again. But “they” also say a lot of other dumb shit that you definitely shouldn’t believe. So here at All Street, we’re putting it to the test. On August 27th, the Brooklyn based photographer and filmmaker Auden Barbour will attempt the impossible by metaphorically returning to her home state of Maine with a solo photography exhibition, Upon Return. So come to the heart of the East Village at our Third Street Street location from August 27th through September 2nd to escape the city for a beat and visit the Pine Tree State through Auden's eyes.

+chopin bros by violet+
on the L train shuttle bus that doubles my commute, the cutie in the purple sweatshirt talks to his friend. he says his family in iran want him to be a teacher, or a doctor or something. he doesn't say what he is instead. they're also talking AT a girl in the seat below them. they ask the her if she's ever heard of chopin, "he's got a lot of famous ones". his friend starts singing a tune loudly and out of tune and he starts singing over him and they elevate in volume. "bro, that's not chopin”.

the grooves on the roof of my mouth are still raw from where the hot cheese on that dollar slice burned my flesh. Despite the initial shock I not only kept chewing but went for more bites continuing to sear my mouth as I ate. Red pepper flakes turned my saliva into acid and penetrated the injury. Something about the pain felt comfortable, it was something I could control unlike my life at the time. We sat in silence eating pizza, unsure of what had just happened, what was now going on, and what the future would hold. She’s gone but the burn persists. I now mindlessly run my tongue over the wound, further agitating it and reminding me of that one day in July that I can’t seem to forget.

Summer like skin
Summer like wet skin
Summer like wet skin in the humid crowd
Summer like wet skin in the humid crowd against another
Summer like sweat and saliva
Summer like sweat and saliva dripping in the humid crowd against another who doesn’t mind
Summer like there’s no place to hide
Summer like there’s no clouds to hide the sun
Summer like there’s no clouds to hide the sun squinting at the crowd
Summer like sun rays and slivers of gold
Summer like sticky hands in sprinklers around wet skin in humid crowds dripping saliva and sweat
Summer like children yelling
Summer like the playground plugging its ears
Summer like “I can’t believe it’s almost over.”

+the youth sat in a room together(8.12)+
You: wearing a red short sleeve button down shirt
Me: wearing a sheer white shirt
Description:
We were both sitting on the carpet with our shoes off. Our toes touched and it felt so intimate. We both giggled and pulled our feet away immediately but we held eye contact for a bit too long after the interaction and right as the giggling ceased a booming, “I like that reverberated through the room.” We smiled at the seemingly cosmic sign and then returned to our sections of the carpet. I was hoping to catch you outside after the performance but you left halfway through. If you felt what I felt then I’ll be at the Abe The Kid performance this Friday. Hope to see you there…

You: the most radiant being in the room
Me: a shy admirer
Description:
You moved through the room like water on a hard surface.
Ebbing and flowing with a subtle purpose.
Every time I thought I would drown,
in your gaze I was found.
There’s nothing I could say to make you remember me,
So I’ll just be stuck combing through this memory.
+women’s national hockey league(8.10)+
You: hurtling through all of space and time
Me: stuck. leaning against the wall.
Description:
I thought about asking you many things, or maybe just one really good question. instead I said nothing. Boy I wish I played the saxophone.
+fluid dynamics opening(8.5)+
You: standing in a group of the coolest people I’ve ever seen
Me: perpetually in a state of panic
Description:
We spoke about the charred wooden beams that seemingly floated overheard in the darkness. It was awkward small talk as we waited in line for the bathroom but the way you mumbled about the structural soundness of the ceiling was really funny and cute. After I came out of the bathroom I was determined to march right up to you and ask for your number but you weren’t alone for the rest of the night and seemed to be trapped in a vortex of unapproachable hipster kids. You probably have interactions like that all the time but if you see this and remember me definitely reach out!
+sunday salon(8.13)+
You: wearing a tight white undershirt with baggy jeans
Me: wearing a tighter white undershirt with baggier jeans
Description:
I’m not sure if you ever came inside or if you just chain-smoked cigarettes outside the whole night. Our eyes met a couple times through the glass of the front door and it was pure electricity. I figured we would eventually bump into each other over the course of the night but I never saw you inside. By the time I built up enough courage to come out and ask for your ig, you were already gone. Maybe see you at the next Sunday Salon? I’ll be wearing the tightest white undershirt and baggiest jeans I have.

You’ve been holding on to a secret for too long. It is now time to share that secret with the world. Write the secret down on a piece of paper. Make a paper airplane out of that piece of paper. Wait for a windy day and send that plane soaring out of the tallest window you have access to.
