whoever said youth is wasted on the young failed to define waste and likely had an odd sense of style, and probably even less grace. the neighboring kiddos over at New Design High School have amassed a body of pretty awesome work that graced the walls of our hester street spot last week that truly left all who gazed upon their artistic stylings in awe.

everything you’ve ever seen will eventually become dust. so, you might as well take a long hard look because what’s here today might be gone tomorrow. the duo exhibition by photographers aurélien bayo and morgan mueller looks at looking in a whole new way. maybe you’ll notice something new or forget everything you think you know. come through to our 77 east 3rd street location through may 23rd to see our surroundings through a new lens.
words
+how to unsuccessfully fade+
make some noise: sound has a direct correlation to memory, so even when they forget your face or what your art looks like, they might remember the sound of your voice as long as it’s unique enough. if you’re really committed to success, try communicating only in shrill and ear-piercing whines or thundering demonic like grunts.
bring the silence: say absolutely nothing. let your work speak for itself. they’ll be desperate to know the voice behind the visuals.
be the light: wear reflective clothing and be infuriatingly optimistic about everything.
be the dark: wear black flowy robe-like clothing and practice witchcraft.
demand attention: being extra is your greatest weapon. life is but a stage and you’re a junior majoring in performance art at a small liberal arts college in a big conservative state, so go ahead and be as cringe as humanly possible.
refuse attention: decline every interview, every studio visit, every exhibition opportunity, ignore every text, don’t even talk to people, and eventually you’ll be considered a genius (and maybe on the spectrum, but is there really a difference?).
be everywhere: every opening, every fair, every talk, every open studio, every dinner, you must be at all places at all times. forget a medium, being there is your practice.
be nowhere: you’re brooding mysterious aura is your art.
make art about yourself: you’re your own muse. real art is forcing gaggles of strangers to look photos or paintings of your naked body while you look at them looking at you.
don’t make art about yourself: jk it’s still all about you.
